Welcome to Lunch & Learn! During this time we will have time to share new tools with the iPads and MacBooks.
Apps on the iPad Today There are more apps to come!
The possibilities on the iPad are endless. This tool brings stories to life and brings our students beyond the four walls of our classroom. There are many great tools on this set of iPads.
Air Drop
Today, we will focus on how to air drop. The kids will be able to save creations including drawings and presentations (videos) they create on the iPad to the camera roll. Once they save it to the camera roll, the kids can air drop you their creation to your iPad, so you can add it to your camera roll. Once it is on your camera roll, you can add it to your newsletter, print the pics or share the presentations from your iPad. You would not need the cart of iPads to share the project. Some creations are made for sharing, so this is how we would share from the set of iPads.
What applications (apps) can AirDrop?

Crayon App
The kids can draw or write in this app. There are many possibilities! Make sure the students save their drawing to their camera roll. Here is an example from a 1st grade lesson where the teacher had the students draw their turkey, air drop the picture to her, she imported the pictures into the 30 Hands app and then each student recorded in their slide what they are thankful for. It was a quick lesson, and it is not perfect, but the kids had fun!
Need more ideas of how to use Air Drop in the Classroom?
Why use AirDrop in the Classroom:
While it is already possible to share nearly any file through Google Drive, there are likely instances where sharing instantly without uploading files adding collaborators onto shared folders can speed up the collaboration process. Additionally, AirDrop allows for collaboration in schools with inconsistent Wi-Fi because files can be shared via AirDrop without an Internet connection.
Consider a few scenarios where AirDrop could be used to facilitate collaboration, group projects or timely teacher feedback.
Group Video Creation: All group members can shoot or create various scenes in a group project with either the built in video camera or with any application that can export video to the camera roll (Explain Everything, iMovie, etc…). The videos can be instantly shared via AirDrop to one iPad in the group to complete the final editing and publishing process.
Group eBook Creation: Book Creator allows for sharing via AirDrop. Students working on small group projects could each work on small segments of a book and then AirDrop their portion to one iPad so that separate files can then be merged into one book.
Screencasting: Explain Everything is a powerful screencasting app that can also be used with AirDrop. Students that have created screencasts can share them as video files directly to a teacher iPad. . Teachers that have created support materials as video tutorials with Explain Everything can conduct the same process to distribute content to student iPads quickly and easily via AirDrop. And, as mentioned before, students can share Explain Everything files amongst themselves for peer review and collaboration.
The possibilities are endless....more to come next time! Thanks for joining me!
